Vans continues to celebrate thirty years of their Half Cab silhouette, the model originally designed for Steve Caballero. This week, the California brand unveiled a new Half Cab ’92 GTX, coming soon.

Vans first introduced their now-legendary Half Cab in 1992, then released as the second signature model from pro skater Steve Caballero. The first silhouette, now known as the Full Cab, was being modified by the skaters of the time, cutting off the upper portions of the ankle to provide more flexibility to perform difficult flip tricks. Caballero took notice, and implored Vans to go back to work on his signature style, rehashing it in a way that better fit skater’s needs. To this day, the refined version remains one of the most important shoes in the Vans Skate lineup, for which the brand is celebrating thirty years in 2022. This week, a winter-ready update for the Cab was unveiled, applying a Gore-Tex lining to the shoe’s interior, making them near waterproof. The Half Cab ’92 GTX is set to debut later this month, in a clean jet black color scheme.
