Megan Fox Channels ‘Death Note’ for Halloween in Red Mary Janes With Machine Gun Kelly

For Halloween 2023, Megan Fox and musician Machine Gun Kelly dressed up as characters from the popular anime and manga “Death Note” while attending English TV personality Vas Morgan and actor Michael Braun’s Halloween party on Oct. 28 in Los Angeles.

Fox’s fiancé dressed as Ryuk, a Shinigami or a creature of darkness from the anime, while Fox portrayed the character Light Yagami in full schoolgirl attire. The “Jennifer’s Body” star wore an apple purse with apple knee-high tights and cherry red platform Mary Jane shoes channeling the Shinigami’s favorite food, apples.

The actress’ LA-based stylist Maeve Reilly, whose roster of celebrity clients include Fox, model Winnie Harlow and formerly media personality Hailey Bieber, ensures that platform heels are a staple in the “Till Death” star’s wardrobe and that style choice includes the actress’ Halloween costumes.

A closer look at Megan Fox’s shoes.

Fox dyed her hair red and cut it into a textured bob in early September this year, revealing a drastic style change from her usual long black tresses. For the costume, the 37-year-old wore her red hair in space buns, leaving some face-framing strands at the front. Fox’s makeup and nails matched the red accents from her outfit with a full crimson lip, a dusting of red eyeshadow and long scarlet nails.

This isn’t the first pop culture pair the celebrity couple has dressed up as; earlier this weekend, Fox and Kelly wore costumes from director Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill.” Fox once again wore an outfit portraying a schoolgirl character, Gogo Yubari, and Kelly dressed as Uma Thurman’s character, The Bride, in a full yellow tracksuit complete with yellow Onitsuka Tiger sneakers and a sword.

The actress wore a black haired wig with blunt bangs covering her red hair, and her makeup was minimal with fake blood “leaking” out of her eyes. Fox’s purse was the character’s infamous weapon, a round spiked ball known as a meteor hammer.

Fox’s white platform Mary Jane shoes gave her a height boost that barely had her reaching fiancé Kelly’s chin. Platform shoes have been a fashion trend for the past two years, and many brands are leaning heavily on the 70s-style shoe. Luxury brand Versace is famous for its double-platform pumps, and other brands like Steve Madden and Vince Camuto have released shoes emulating the trend.

The costume choice turned out to be a controversial one after the “Transformers” star posted the couple’s costume on Instagram, tagging the actors and actresses union, SAG-AFTRA, in the caption.

The caption poked fun at a recent statement the union released asking members not to dress up as characters from movies and TV shows owned by the studios the union is currently striking against.

Fox and MGK have been engaged since January 2022, after the pair had an unusual engagement ceremony in which the celebrity couple drank each other’s blood.
