PUMA’s recent string of new silhouettes has raised plenty of attention amongst the sneaker community, and the world at large. This week, the streak continues with the PUMA STORM, a sleek new runner with retro influences.

The PUMA STORM is here. The latest in the German sportswear brand’s line of retro-inspired runners, the STORM takes heavy inspiration from another one of these throwback silhouettes. Released last year, the THUNDER quickly took over as one of the most popular shoes available during the height of the chunky, “dad” shoe trend. Taking many of the design cues from its predecessor, the STORM simplifies the look ever so slightly and slims the general construction down to what is absolutely necessary. Beginning with a mesh upper, a suede toecap keeps your forefoot locked into place, while stiffer leather heel counters and FormStrips keep the rest of the body rigid. The midsole also borrows from the THUNDER’s oversized look, smoothing out the tooling to create a cloud-like sole shape. The first colorway of the STORM mixes a predominantly black & grey upper with brighter accents in royal blue, neon yellow, and bold turquoise.
