Veja‘s latest running shoe is here. On Thursday, the sustainable sneaker brand launched the Condor 3.

The Condor made its debut in 2019 and was updated in 2021. Now, the newest iteration has used advancements in research and development and bio-based materials to create a fres take on the performance-running shoe.

The sneaker is focused on lightness, durability and comfort. Weighing in at 10 oz., the Condor 3 is made with breathable upper made in engineered mesh, lighter laces and a thinner shoe tongue to limit point of friction. Plus, a film glued on the sneakers lightens the style, improving the running experience, while the a full-length L-foam cushion covers the outsole for a high shock absorption capacity.

Materials include recycled polyester, sugar cane-based E.V.A, Amazonian rubber and natural latex from Brazil.

Since its founding in 2004, founders Sébastien Kopp and François-Ghislain Morillion have been successfully creating a sneaker brand with ethical sourcing. Last year, Veja took home the Sustainability Leadership Award at the 37th annual FN Achievement Awards. To support local communities while using upcycled and sustainably produced materials, such as organic cotton and wild rubber, Veja works closely with cooperatives of small producers in Brazil under fair trade practices, for instance.

Overall, 12 million pairs of its sneakers have been sold since their launch. The brand is now in 3,000 retailers across 70 countries. It has launched 35 sneaker styles since first coming to market, and it’s opened stores in Paris, New York, Berlin and, most recently, Madrid. Veja has also expanded into children’s shoes, as well as the competitive running category.
