Golden Goose has partnered with skater, model and activist Briana King on a new pro-model sneaker.
Co-designer by King, the new limited-edition Sky-Star Pro sneaker was created with professional skateboarders in mind. The shoe delivers performance-enhancing details like a padded collar to provide a cozy fit that properly supports the ankles and features diamond-textured rubber supports placed on the outer side and rear to help minimize impact, wear and tear.
“I’m not the typical skater, this isn’t a typical skate shoe,” King told FN. “The creative process for the design of my shoe with Golden Goose was a breeze, I’ve spent way too much of my time thinking of a perfect shoe. My shoe is based around skate performance. You’re gonna have the right amount of board feel, the silhouette is going to hug your foot and the leather is going to uphold through hundreds of flicks and just feel butter,” she added.
The high-top silhouette features a dark green leather upper with a distressed appearance, lilac cotton laces and a tongue boasting an image of a young skater in action. The design was influenced by the juxtaposition of nature blooming in urban landscapes.
“The design is based around me being at my absolute peak when skating in my shoe,” King said.
Every pair includes an exclusive green yo-yo for those who like to keep their hands busy. The shoe, which comes in a numbered quantity of 1/100, will be retail at $795 exclusively at goldengoose.com.
Briana King has risen to prominence over the years, displaying her love of skateboarding and offering tips on Instagram and TikTok, where she has amassed hundreds of thousands of followers since 2018. King also founded Display Only, a project that organizes local skate events for girls and LGBTQIA+ individuals.
Born in Los Angeles, the 31-year-old has modeled for big-name brands like Dior, Calvin Klein and Prada as well as Justin Bieber’s Drew House. King has also been featured in music videos for the likes of A$AP Rocky and Doja Cat.
