We can’t be certain that Silvia Venturini Fendi is a fan of “The Crown” on Netflix, but her latest men’s collection is filled with pieces made for a weekend in the late Queen’s beloved Scottish countryside.
For her fall/winter 2024 men’s collection, the Italian luxury brand’s accessories and men’s artistic director “muses on the noble pursuits of the great outdoors, streamlined by the swagger of the city,” according to show notes.
Indeed, “a town and country look” is how Venturini Fendi described the collection, which straddled both urbane and outdoorsy garments. The long, flaring leather overcoats would fall in the former category; the raglan-sleeved ones in loud blanket checks in the latter.
When it comes to this season’s footwear range, these references can be seen in the collection’s very first look, which features a model in a Scottish kilt inspired pleated skort styled with leather Wellington boots with thick wool hiking socks. The majority of the collection’s looks were worn with these new grain leather Wellington boots traced with stitching up the ankle, which came in several colorways and materials.
Another nod to the great outdoors came in the form of a lace-up deck shoe with an elevated, platform injected sole. These platform boat shoes, were also seen in several colorways including black, green and classic brown.
Saturday’s show also teased a new collaboration from the house with Los Angeles and Rome-based Ma Yansong, the founder of architecture studio MAD Architects. Described as furthering the season’s call-and-repeat between man and nature with a futuristic edge, the capsule’s accessories are definitely something from the future.
For the collaboration’s footwear, slated to launch for fall ’24, Venturini Fendi and Yansong worked on a slip-on futuristic sneaker that features an organic injection molded sole and an upper with two-tone bubble details and metallic accents. It’s low, flat profile aims to create an ergonomic alternative to the season’s twisted classics.
The collab also sees a new take on the Peekaboo ISeeU bag, which is deconstructed with varnished aluminum contours on the façade and handle, in a nod to MAD’s organic and flowing architectural style.
