New York Fashion Week has returned to the Big Apple with all the newest collections for spring 2024. And with them, a tradition of unique and unexpected footwear collaborations. Designers and footwear brands team up each season to create new shoe designs for the new collections, many of which can be seen on models strutting down the runways.
Here, a look at all of the footwear collaborations coming from New York Fashion Week‘s spring 2024 lineup.
Batsheva and Toms
Batsheva partnered up with Toms for a shoe collab that combined the distinctive stylish comfort of Toms with Batsheva’s unique design sensibilities. Inspired by the 1950s and housewives of the time period, pieces were made out of placemats and oven mitts. “I thought it would be cool to hand-sew ruffly trims around the edges and on top of Toms shoes, to take the casual vibe of the shoes and make them frilly and feminine,” Batsheva Hay, designer of Batsheva said in the collection’s release.
Jonathan Cohen and Larroudé
For his first show back to NYFW since 2020, Jonathan Cohen tapped Larroudé to create a capsule footwear line to go with the new collection. Cohen’s signature hand painted prints and textured fabrics can be seen on Larroudé’s most popular shoe silhouettes, like her Dolly platform and Kate knee-high boot. “I have always felt that our prints and treatments would lend themselves well to accessories,” Cohen told FN ahead of his spring 2024 presentation. “We are always pushing ourselves to find new and innovative ways to use our fabric scraps and have been wanting to try this studded floral technique on shoes for quite some time. I loved the result.”
Collina Strada and Ugg
The Collina Strada x Ugg spring 2024 capsule collection was inspired by feminine strength and woman coming together. Collina Strada creative director Hillary Taymour teamed up with Ugg to create seven new footwear styles including spiked Mary Janes, animal inspired clogs with Flamingo, Dog and Monster designs, as well as colorful platform sandals with tulle.
Dion Lee, Ancuta Sarca and Both
Dion Lee decided to team up with not one, but two other brands for their footwear capsule to go with their Spring 2024 collection. Dion Lee created a women’s shoe capsule with Ancuta Sarca from upcycled Dion Lee deadstock garments, fabrics and signature utility buckles in heeled silhouettes. The collection also featured a unisex footwear collaboration with Both. For this line, utility rubber combat boots are seen made of new fabrications and proportions.
Manolo Blahnik and Adam Lippes
The two brands have worked together several times in the past, and nothing has changed for this season. The custom collection was created just for the runway show to pair with the Spring 2024 collection. Shoes like ankle wrapped heels and pointed toe ballet flats can be seen on the models during the NYFW show.
Manolo Blahnik and Altuzarra
Manolo Blahnik didn’t stop at just one collaboration for Spring 2024 — they created a second collection with Altuzarra. The two brands teamed up for the first time to created a custom collection just to be seen on the runway. The result is a group of pointed toe heels, some with slingbacks and others with an open back for a mule style. Colors like pink, brown, white, black, blue and more can be seen on the shoes, which were covered in satin and suede to name a few.
Aknvas and Stuart Weitzman
Christian Juul Nielsen presented Aknvas’ Spring 2024 runway collection, titled “The Storyteller.” The collection included both men’s and women’s looks that took inspiration from Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen’s stories. The New York-based brand also collaborated with Stuart Weitzman to present a series of new footwear styles. On the runway, models wore the bow heels in shades of red, silver, black and more.
Area and Sergio Rossi
The two brands have teamed up in the past with a footwear collection seen on the runway during New York Fashion Week, and the Spring 2024 season is no exception. Area co-founders Beckett Fogg and Piotrek Panszczyk tapped Sergio Rossi to complete its collection, which was inspired by the idea of the primal instinct and its evolution through fashion history. Thigh-high boots and pointed toe pumps complement the RTW of the line.
A. Potts and Andre Assous
The American fashion brand tapped the shoe brand known for its espadrilles for the Spring 2024 collection. Designer Aaron Potts paired his designs with Andre Assous footwear, including the Maggie and Coelest Espadrilles. Presented during New York Men’s Day, the collection, titled Urbanearth, celebrates organic growth in an urban space.
