Converse’s sustainability initiatives have been on fire this year, pushing out some of our favorite releases we’ve seen from the Boston shoemaker. This week, we have an early look at another sustainable release from Japan, this time featuring natural plant dyes.

Converse’s sustainability program has garnered a lot of attention since it debuted last Fall, rebuilding classic Converse sneakers with more environmentally-friendly materials and manufacturing processes. Thankfully, the Boston-based brand appears to be ramping up these special releases, with new styles hitting retailers on a seemingly weekly basis. Today, we have an early look at the next release form Converse Japan, which employs the use of natural plant-based dyes sourced from the Food Textile to create to smooth new colorways, “Juniper” and “Purple Cabbage”. Both pairs come with fully-dyed canvas uppers, with the Juniper coming in a soft grey tone, and the purple cabbage, in, well, bright purple.
