The Nike Air Force 1 Low Joins the “1972” Series

Nike has been paying homage to the year of the brand’s founding in 1972 through a series of special releases highlighting some of their iconic silhouettes. This week, the Air Force 1 Low has joined the project, coming soon.

Though Nike’s history began as Blue Ribbon Sports in the 1960s, operating as a dealer of Japan’s Onitsuka shoes, it was until 1972 that the Swoosh would become the brand we know and love. This year, Nike has been celebrating that momentous occasion fifty-two years ago, through a series of special-edition colors for iconic models like the Dunk Low, Air Max 1, and Vomero 5. This week, another immensely important shoe to the brand’s history has joined the collection, the “1972” Air Force 1 Low. This pair sports the shoe’s iconic all-white color blocking, with some notable changes. The Swoosh and tongue materials have been swapped for breathable mesh, and the leather for the upper features exposed brown edges. Mini Swooshes embroidered on the toes are accompanied by 1972 and Nike logos on each foot in their retro sporty font, while mismatched red and blue branding rounds out the new look.

Nike’s latest silhouette to join their ongoing “1972” collection, the Air Force 1 Low, has not been announced for release officially, but will likely land on shelves sometime very soon. Dressed in white with premium leather touches and mismatched color accents, pairs will be available directly from Nike for an estimated $140.
