The Air Mowabb turns thirty years old this year, and to this day it remains one of the most beloved Nike ACG sneakers. Luckily for us, the Swoosh is getting ready to treat us to a retro release for the anniversary, starting with the classic “Rattan” look.

Nike’s ACG archives are filled with plenty of enticing vintage outdoor sneakers, but we always seem to arrive right back at the Air Mowabb. Based on the fan-favorite Air Huarache running shoe, reworked for the outdoors, the Nike ACG Air Mowabb first launched in 1991, making this year’s retro release the silhouette’s 30th anniversary. The design removes some of the Huarache’s running functionality, instead opting for outdoor-ready materials and panelling, from the leather outer layers of the upper to the neoprene inner bootie that keeps your feet warm and dry. The Mowabb also introduced a new sole unit to the design, providing a stable platform with plenty of grip to help navigate slipper situations. With Nike’s retro of the Mowabb on the horizon, information regarding the release has started to trickle out online, like some rumors saying that both the original “Rattan” (seen here in the 2015 pair) and the “Teal” colorways will both be available as early as August 2021.
