adidas’ 4D technology developed by Carbon has had a long road to wide-scale production. However, 2019 has seen a number of releases that are still available today, and with todays news about the new I-4D Primeknit, there’s still plenty to come.

The adidas I-4D Primeknit is not exactly a new silhouette. The first time we saw this mashup of the classic 70s I-5923 and the new 3d-printed midsoles was back in 2017, when they were announced as a part of adidas’ Hybrid series, which placed vintage uppers on modern soles and vice versa. Back then, the I-4D was simply the current iteration of the I-5923 (or Iniki to those who remember) placed on top of a 4D midsole, which disappointed many fans given that the quality did not feel consistent from top to bottom. However, the Three Stripes have made a few changes, and are ready to try again.

This week, the adidas I-4D resurfaced on the brand’s website, detailing two new colorways and a new construction for the look. This time around, the upper is constructed from a Primeknit main body and reinforced with suede overlays around the toes, heels, and lacing system. The first color scheme mixes purple tones with adidas’ Semi Coral, while the second goes for a more tonal option, matching all pieces of the upper to the 4D midsole’s signature Aero Green color.

ADIDAS I-4D PRIMEKNIT RELEASE INFORMATION

adidas’ hybrid of their 70s I-5923 and the newer Futurecraft 4D midsoles are finally scheduled to make their public debut sometime in the coming weeks. The new Primeknit iteration is thus far only visible for residents of Denmark, though a wider release is expected in the coming week for the 4D technologies current $350 price tag.
