Sydney Sweeney went slightly edgy on Saturday night. The actress put on a pair of Alexander McQueen white pumps while in New York City.
Sweeney has worn a black version of the shoes previously. Last year, the “Anyone But You” star wore the silver-tipped pumps on the red carpet for Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood event in Los Angles.
The “Euphoria” performer is currently in New York City ahead of the 2024 Met Gala. That event will take place on Monday, May 6 and boasts Bad Bunny, Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez and Chris Hemsworth as chairs alongside Anna Wintour. This year the annual fundraiser is themed around the “Sleeping Beauties: Awakening Fashion” exhibit.
About the shoe
Sweeney, assisted by stylist Molly Dickinson, wore the McQueen Punk Pump in Ivory. The leather shoe is a classic pump with a pointed toe and low, straight vamp. The lacquered 3.5 inch heel is a stiletto.
The distinguishing detail of the shoe is the silver-finished toe cap. The Punk pumps were initially introduced to the brand back in 2019 under the purview of Sarah Burton and noted by not only its use of a silver toe-cap but silver studs. Now McQueen makes a variety of “Punk” styled footwear with silver toe caps, from pumps to mules and boots.

Founded by Lee Alexander McQueen, revered by some as one of the greatest fashion designers, the McQueen label is known for its artistic approach to fashion. Over the year, the company has seized popular attention with designs like its oversized, 12-inch Armadillo boot which were first seen in the 2010 Atlantis collection. In 2015, a pair of those went for $295,000 at auction. The company now has a line of more moderately sized Armadillo-styled heels which borrow lines from the silhouette.
McQueen also created a massively popular leather platform sneaker that is a timeless style. Jennifer Lopez, Katie Holmes, Nick Jonas, and Marion Cotillard are among the celebrity fans of the shoe. Sean McGirr debuted as the artistic director of McQueen in March and for his fall 2024 range he also included eye-catching shoes like multiple iterations on horse-hoof heeled boots and otherwise comically oversized platform boots.
