Angela Bassett opted for neon tulle galore at the 2023 SAG Awards tonight in Los Angeles. Outfitted in a Giambattista Valli gown from the designer’s fall 2022 couture collection, she arrived at the Fairmont Century Plaza with a nomination for Female Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for her work in “Black Panther: Wakana Forever.”
Along with many of tonight’s SAG Award attendees, Bassett shined in vibrant colors and voluminous fabric. She wore the gown tailored with a strapless silhouette that featured layered tulle along the entirety of its neckline. From the bodice down, the dress took on a formfitting shape, and at the train of the gown, additional tulle layers billowed down to the floor.
Bassett contrasted the neon hue with a crystalized tiger-striped hand clutch in the shape of a sea shell by Judith Leiber.
Bassett was styled by Jennifer Austin, who incorporated De Beers jewelry into her bright ensemble. Since the blazing color was reserved for Bassett’s red carpet gown, the actress brought the neutrals out in her manicure.
Her sandals were hidden, though often, the “American Horror Story” actress pairs her red carpet looks with a slew of platform sandals. Bassett wore silver-metallic Jimmy Choo sandals with a Moschino pussy-bow striped blouse and suit at the 2023 Oscars Nominee Luncheon earlier this month, and at this year’s BAFTA ceremony, she slipped on a pair of Le Silla lilac-purple, peep-toe heels.
The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards celebrate the past year’s top film and television performances. The 2023 event will be held at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles on Feb. 26. This year’s occasion features Haley Lu Richardson and Antonia Gentry as brand ambassadors, as well as a range of nominees including Austin Butler, Michelle Yeoh, Jennifer Coolidge, Viola Davis, Adam Sandler and Julia Garner.
