The Angelo Baque-assisted design marches on.

ASICS GEL-NYC “Indigo” Arrives On May 16th

Formulated with the help of Awake NY, ASICS GEL-NYC holds claim to a pretty unorthodox origin story. All the same, with multiple collaborations and a host of inline colorways under its belt, the model has become a true highlight among recent ASICS silhouettes. The next edition keeps up that momentum with a blend of “Indigo” tones.

Though the combination of suede and mesh remains from the model’s origins, it’s hard not to make denim connections given the colorway. As you work from the bottom layer to the top, a mix of adjacent blues goes from light to dark, hitting baby blue, cobalt and two navy shades in that gradient. Greyscale notes of white mesh and black rubber on the outsole center the design in staid territory. Though this release won’t command the same hype as collaborative efforts, it presents another amenable colorway and one that showcases why the silhouette has become a streetwear mainstay.

The ASICS GEL-NYC “Indigo” drops on May 16th via Foot Locker, carrying a $140 retail price. A wider ASICS release is currently not confirmed for any specific date.

Elsewhere on the runners front, the Jack Harlow New Balance 1906R presents the second ever collaboration.
