"Grey Day" collides with the Major tournament.

Coco Gauff’s New Balance Signature Shoe Served Up In “French Open” Colorway

Coco Gauff and New Balance found themselves at the center of the tennis universe last September. After winning the US Open, Gauff donned a “Call Me Champion” shirt from the brand that instantly entered the canon of the sports most iconic moments. With Gauff looking to repeat that success by securing another major at the end of the month, the New Balance CG1 is dressing up for the occasion in a new grey colorway.

While the actual hardware stays the same here, the palette departs pretty drastically from the maximalist, 90’s-inspired territory of the debut “Unity of Sport” version. The New Balance CG1 swaps to a mix of tonal greys and beiges. That’s mirrored by a severe material switch, pasting several suede patches over the nylon base. The ecru tones of the midsole continue the beige hues from the upper, bringing “Grey Day” aesthetics to NB’s premier tennis shoe and saturating the shoe with a different sort of retro vibe. Given that Gauff will be competing at a venue steeped in over 100 years of tennis history, it’s a fitting thematic choice.

This edition of the New Balance CG1 releases via New Balance on May 26th, commanding a $170 MSRP. Take a look at official photos just ahead to get a full sense of what to expect on drop day.

Keeping with NB, first looks at the Jack Harlow New Balance 1906R lit the sneaker world ablaze this weekend.
