First Look At The Nike Zoom Freak 6

Giannis Antetekuompo’s signature shoe line is on a promising path. Among current players, you could argue that The Freak’s basketball shoes are among Nike’s most popular behind LeBron’s and KD’s, lines that deliver both new and retro releases since they’ve been around so long. It remains to be seen whether or not Antetekuompo’s shoes will reach similar heights, but each subsequent Zoom Freak shoe represents another step towards reaching that goal. We’ve already gotten five numbered models before Giannis hits 30, and now the Nike Zoom Freak 6 looks to take over where its predecessors left off.

First images courtesy of @kicksdong reveal the Zoom Freak 6 in all its glory, complete with the same low-top height championed by Giannis on all past signature offerings to date. While the Freak 5 features panels that wrap the heel, eyelets, and forefoot, the Freak 6 opts for a slimmer leather piece that stays close to the top, exposing more of the multi-layered base underneath. Oversized Swooshes continues to be a go-to for Giannis shoes, appearing prominently on the quarter before cutting down into the midsole under a wavy foam structure.

Red roses set the theme on this look, but that’s most definitely specific to this particular colorway of reference, not a uniform feature. In any case, it goes to show the design possibilities behind the Freak 6 as we wait on word from Nike on the shoe’s arrival. Given past release trends, expect the Nike Zoom Freak 6 to hit shelves sometime this summer after the conclusion of the NBA Finals.
