Virgil Abloh’s Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 Receives A Comprehensive Upgrade To Sustainability

Virgil Abloh’s Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 Receives A Comprehensive Upgrade To Sustainability

By the end of this week, we’ll have witnessed Nike’s first posthumous release following the unfortunate passing of Virgil Abloh. And while there’s much confusion around what the brand will do moving forward, it seems they’ll first start with what Abloh himself had already prepared. Beyond that, though, we only have one clue: via IG Stories, A$AP Bari shared an image of an Off-White x Nike Air Force 1, whose construction was rendered entirely in what looks to be Nike Grind materials.

As the image lacks the details signature to prior collaborations, such as the zip-tie and Helvetica text, there’s a bit of doubt over whether the pair belongs to Off-White at all. However, the dual laces — which we’ve seen atop both the Dunk Low and Zoom Terra Kiger 5 — make a strong case, especially with its bright orange string. Despite this, the rest of the construction feels entirely unfamiliar due largely in part to the upper’s comprehensive use of Nike Grind materials in their raw state. Blue, pink, and neutral-colored scraps are rife throughout, building out not only the base but the Swoosh, overlays, and tongue as well. Only the midsole feels more standard, albeit not by much as its embellished entirely with a blackened, almost mold-like finish.

Enjoy a closer look at this possible sequel to the Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 right here. For now, sit tight as we await more updates.

In other news, the Union LA x Nike Dunk Low Passport Pack is making a wider release this week.
