Nina Shoes is celebrating its 70th anniversary in a big way. To pay homage to the major milestone, the women’s footwear brand has launched its Archive Collection.

The limited-edition line, out now, features six styles inspired by silhouettes throughout Nina’s history. For instance, the Vibe style is a modern take on the original wood-bottom clog that launched in 1953. And then there’s the Village heel that combines a denim patchwork upper with a hand-painted clog bottom, which are two details quintessential to Nina Footwear.

“Nina was an instant success with its unique, fun and flirty handmade clogs and patchwork details. We captivated everyone from the hip, mod girls in downtown Greenwich Village to the vibrant Miami scene and Hollywood’s fashion elite. Whether she was standing out at a poetry reading or walking the runway in a beauty pageant, women who knew fashion chose Nina. We were loved for our creativity, style and comfort, and still are today,” Flori Silverstein, daughter of co-founder Stanley Silverstein and the designer behind the Archive Collection, said.

Each pair of the limited-edition styles is numbered and represents a unique chapter in Nina’s legacy. The collection ranges from $125 to $145.

Ezra Dabah, CEO of Nina Footwear, added: “As we celebrate this major milestone, we attribute our continued success to the craftsmanship and design expertise we’ve shared across generations, as well as our ability to innovate and be on the mark with what the Nina woman wants to wear.”

It’s been a big month for the company. Earlier this April, online children’s player Kidpik and Nina Footwear announced that the companies have signed an agreement to merge into a single company dubbed Nina Holdings, with closing scheduled in the third quarter.

Under the merger, which both companies’ boards have approved, the new entity will operate under the symbol “NINA.” Stockholders of Nina Footwear will own 80 percent of Kidpik’s outstanding common stock when the merger closes. Dabah, the current chief executive officer, chairman and majority stockholder of Kidpik is also the chief executive officer of Nina Footwear, which is 100 percent owned by Dabah and his extended family. Following the merger, Dabah’s kids and wife will continue to own 76.8 percent of Nina’s voting shares. Kidpik’s officers and directors will remain the same following the transaction.

Stanley and Mike Silverstein founded the New York-based Nina Footwear in 1953 as a maker of women’s premium clogs. The brand has since expanded to include a robust footwear and accessories collection for women and children. Stanley’s daughter, Nina (for whom the company was named) is currently the company’s chief creative officer.
