Adidas is celebrating 50 years of Hello Kitty with their latest collaboration.

On the heels of Hello Kitty’s collaboration with Crocs, Adidas has also come together with the Japanese cartoon kitty to immortalize her likeness in ultra-cozy Adilette slides. The collaborative slide is equipped with plush EVA soles and non-slip rubber outsoles that transition into a plush upper band made to resemble Hello Kitty’s facial features.

The strap, made of a lush plushy material, includes the beloved character’s bright pink bow, yellow button nose and black whiskers. The Adilette slides are packaged in a specially designed shoe box that features graphics of Hello Kitty and her friends including Keroppi and Kuromi, among others.

Adidas’ Adilette slide first debuted in the 1970s and was crafted for the German national football team, meant to be worn as a shower shoe. The slide has since become a staple of the Adidas brand, coming in a variety of styles and colorways that harken back to the original silhouette. The silhouette has often become the focus of a variety of collaborations, this one included.

The collaborative slide is currently only available for purchase in Japan.

Back in April of 2023, Adidas teamed up with Hello Kitty to imbue her likeness into the brand’s heritage Stan Smith silhouette. Much like the new Adilette slide, the collaborative sneaker included plushy detailing that resembled Hello Kitty’s face.

The lining of the shoe featured cameos from Hello Kitty’s famed friends while the heels featured fuzzy overlays akin to the cartoon kitty’s fur. A Hello Kitty-inspired Samba was also recently released.

Much like Adidas, Crocs created a classic clog style that aimed to interpret the character’s likeness. The silhouette was teased only a few days into the new year with a release date of Jan. 17.
