The Adidas Samba Millennium Will Spearhead Wales Bonner’s Next Sneaker Capsule in May

Wales Bonner and Adidas are turning their attention to a different iteration of the Samba in a continuation of their hit partnership.

A Wales Bonner x Adidas Samba Millennium in cream, brown and green is set to be one of six sneakers releasing later this month as part of a new collection from the collaborators. While images have only been revealed for the lone shoe, Adidas documents show there will also be three additional Sambas and two pairs of the SL76 releasing alongside it. It’s not yet clear if the other Sambas will also be the Millennium or the classic version more people are familiar with.

Adidas only recently revived the Samba Millennium, which is a modernized version of the iconic sneaker that released in 2009 for indoor soccer. Wales Bonner’s take on the sneaker transforms it even more, as the tongue takes on concentric rings like those found on Adidas’ Copa series of soccer cleats. The contrast stitching signature to the label’s Adidas sneakers also makes a return on the heel of the shoe, which is split with an off-white for its front two-third and brown for the rear. Green forms the sockliner, while the outsole appears in translucent gum.

In addition to the unseen Sambas, Grace Wales Bonner’s label will also take on the SL76, a successor to the SL72 that has been featured in its Adidas collaborations since the launch of the first in 2020. Adidas has also begun pushing the SL72 more heavily this year beginning with a new campaign.

The Wales Bonner x Adidas Samba Millennium will release May 21 through the Confirmed app and select third-party retailers, alongside the other shoes in the collection and a large assortment of apparel and accessories. Pricing for the Millennium is set at $250.
