Vans’ Newly Launched OTW Line Announces Sterling Ruby’s S.R. Studio as Its First Sneaker Collaborator

Vans launched its new OTW line last week through a collection of in-house apparel and footwear. Now, the successor to Vault by Vans is getting its first collaborator in S.R. Studio. L.A. CA.

The ready-to-wear label from artist Sterling Ruby is ushering the Clash the Wall, a new model from Vans that mashes up the classic Authentic, Sk8-Hi, Old Skool and Mid-Skool. The collaboration sees the sneakers rendered monochromatically in either options for neon green or neon orange, both of which features the label’s name printed across the sole unit.

Last summer, Vans announced it would shutter Vault by Vans, a more premium line known best for its collaborations, to make room for OTW by Vans, which stands for the brand’s slogan, “Off the Wall.” The revamped line is being led by Ian Ginoza, who’s previously worked at Adidas, Nike and Converse.

At the time of the announcement, Ginoza told WWD that OTW would feature fewer but better collaborations. “We’re launching a new platform where we’re going to house our most pinnacle product expressions and brand experiences,” he added. “This is also where the brand will intersect with innovators in the culture of skate, style, design and entertainment.”

OTW launched with new silhouettes including a Half Cab 33 with a Vibram sole suited for hiking and new takes on the Rowley XLT, as well as a small run of apparel.

The SR. Studio LA. CA. x OTW by Vans Clash the Wall will release Thursday, Feb. 29, through OTW’s dedicated website and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $160. A second drop from the collaboration is also slated before the end of 2024.
