Tyler, the Creator‘s partnership with Converse has been quiet this year with only a handful of sneakers releasing through either his Golf Wang or Golf Le Fluer labels. But even if there were more to choose from, the return of his flame-covered Chuck 70 in a new colorway would be a guaranteed highlight.
Following the lead of previous iterations, the Golf Wang x Converse Chuck 70 sees flames dance across the canvas upper. A purplish-brown “Paprika” color forms the base, and the flames take on a “Salmon Rose” pink with blue and red trim. The off-white, vulcanized sole unit maintains continuity with soft pink returning on the trim and the outsole taking on the light blue. The midsole’s heel patch then appears in brown, and the only Golf Wang branding to be found is on the insole.
Last month, Tyler, the Creator sold mystery boxes containing one his many previous Converse sneakers since he began working with the brand in 2017. The only proper sneaker releases this year have been in a Golf Le Fluer Chuck 70 “Digital Leopard” pack from the summer. Should the volume ramp up again, it’d only be natural for it to coincide with Tyler’s annual Camp Flog Gnaw festival in November.
The Golf Wang x Converse Chuck 70 is slated to release Thursday, Oct. 5, through the Golf Wang and Converse websites, as well as the former’s flagships in New York City and Los Angeles and select retailers. Pricing is set at $100.
