Converse celebrates Latino Heritage Month each year with a collection of footwear and apparel dubbed “Mi Gente,” which is Spanish for “my people.” Latino designers crafted up this year’s goods with a focus on folklore, with Mexican-American Converse skater Erik Herrera and his family coming in for model duty.

The footwear assortment consists of a static Chuck Taylor All Star and One Star Pro, as well another Chuck Taylor All Star that can be customized. The fixed pair of Chucks utilizes a rainbow gradient distorted chamomile flower graphic making up the canvas upper and taking inspiration from the healing properties of nature. “Mi Gente” appears on the insole, midsole heel, and outsole, while a “Sana Sana” lace dubrae references a Spanish saying used to comfort children in pain.

The One Star Pro opts for a different plant as source material, as the upper’s suede takes on a graphic inspired by coffee grains. It, too, gets the same Spanish word hits.

Rounding out the footwear is the customizable Chuck Taylor, which boasts seven graphic canvas options: an all-over “Mi Gente” print, healing gradient, white-and-grey healing chamomile, protection gradient, protection frogs, premonition gradient, and premonition moths. Each of the upper’s panels can be rendered in these prints or a selection of colors, allowing for a sizable range of combinations. “Mi Gente” returns in the same spot as the other sneakers, but the “Sana Sana” dubrae isn’t included in this one.

Converse’s “Mi Gente” collection is out now on its website, with prices ranging from $70 to $85 for the footwear. Two graphic tees are also available for $40 a pop.
