This Rare New Balance Collaboration Is Releasing Soon

New Balance has had no shortage of buzz-worthy sneaker collaborations in recent years, and it looks like the trend will continue this summer with the public release of a sought-after project.

Designed in partnership with Paris music collective 99Ginger, the newly surfaced New Balance 1906R collab is a follow-up to a version of the same model which was distributed exclusively to friends and family in January.

The friends and family variation of the 99Ginger x New Balance 1906R broke the mold for the traditionally mesh-and-synthetic-based shoe, instead covering the entire upper in a glossy green faux croc print. That rare pair regularly resales for over $1,000 on platforms like StockX, but there will soon be another option for those seeking the coveted collaboration.

In a now-deleted Instagram post, 99Ginger shared Tuesday looks at another take on its New Balance 1906R. Rather than the full croc treatment seen on the aforementioned friends and family variant, the new retail version tones things down a bit.

The shiny green material is seen only on select panels of the shoe, while a more standard black mesh fills in the underlays. Despite the tweaks, the sneaker remains highly eye-catching and should garner a warm reception from fans of January’s pair.

Along with sharing images of the updated New Balance 1906R, 99Ginger confirmed the collaboration would arrive sometime during June 2024. Retail pricing has not been confirmed, but more details should be announced soon.

In related news, rapper Jack Harlow’s first sneaker collaboration with New Balance will be released this fall.
