‘Saturday Night Live’ Takes on Donald Trump’s Sneaker Line and Introduces ‘Air Bidens’ in New Sketch

Saturday Night Live” and host of the week Shane Gillis took on former President Donald Trump’s new gold sneaker line with a faux movie trailer sketch dubbed “White Men Can Trump,” an obvious riff off the 1992 comedy “White Men Can’t Jump,” on the latest episode of the show, which aired on Feb. 24.

The trailer depicts Gillis’ character failing at everything until he’s gifted a pair of magical kicks that turn his life around. The gold high-tops featuring a T stamped on the side and an American Flag on the collar essentially turn him into a version of Donald Trump.

Talking to a friend, Gillis’ character says, “They gave me the power to say I’m good at basketball, then double down on that until people actually start to believe it.”

At the end of the sketch, Mikey Day is seen wearing a pair of “Air Bidens,” a take on the Air Jordans inspired by President Joe Biden.

Trump, the 2024 Republican presidential candidate, surprised everyone with the debut of his new sneakers at Sneaker Con in Philadelphia on Feb. 17. The $399 “Never Surrender” kicks were listed as sold out on a website called Gettrumpsneakers.com that same night. The site states that only 1,000 pairs would ever be released. However, another style offered in two colorways, the “T-Red Wave” in red and “Potus 45” in white, are still available for $199.
