A Closer Look at Marc Jacobs’ Parade of Rainbow Platforms

Who: Marc Jacobs staged a trippy rave for spring ’17 that transported onlookers back to the late-’90s extreme platforms meant for party pixies and all. A soundtrack of “Born Slippy (Nuxx)” by Underworld set the dance-until-daylight tone.

Shoes: Jumping off last season’s memorable platform Mary Janes, this time the shapes were similar (a staggering 8-inch platform and chunky heel), but surface treatments were wildly original. Think rainbow rows of rhinestone, vivid patent and Mandarin silks. Many were styled with Kauai-style novelty socks and matched models multicolored dreads. Jacobs collaborated with British illustrator Julie Berhoeven on the collection’s spellbinding palette and prints.
