The Duke of Cornwall paid a visit to the southwest of England to meet with representatives from local organizations, like Holywell Bay and Newquay Life Saving Clubs, who are working to create a safe environment across the beach area. During his time in Newquay, he also stopped by the area where Kate Middleton’s first ever housing project will be built.

It has been a very long time since the prince was seen wearing a casual pair of sneakers. While visiting the construction site earlier that day, Prince William wore a pair of brown velvet Chelsea boots. Last week, he opted for a pair of black lace-up loafers when officially opening James’ Place, a charity in Newcastle. This set was similar to the shoes he wore to the 2024 BAFTA Awards back in February.

About The Shoes

For the sandy occasion, Prince William slipped into a pair of brown sneakers. The low-top shoes featured a suede upper with silver eyelets against the lace up closure. The sneakers were completed by a white rubber sole. The set is similar to British luxury label Sunspel’s Suede Tennis Shoe, which retails for $300.

Within the last week, several public figures have been seen wearing sneakers including Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes who wore a Dior pair during Formula One in Miami on Saturday.

Sneakers

The first style of sneakers dates back to 1876, when England-based New Liverpool Rubber Company created the first rubber-soled shoes. Since then, the sneaker industry has become a phenomenon with brands like Nike and Adidas creating a following that allows them to sell out styles within seconds. Along with the rubber sole, the basic composition of a sneaker relates to the lace up closure and closed silhouette. The retail market is saturated with several reinterpretations in various materials and supportive levels.
