Megan Thee Stallion gave the little black dress — otherwise known as the “LBD” — a slick revamp for the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards.
While arriving to this year’s ceremony at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., on Tuesday night, Megan Thee Stallion posed in a pair of slick heeled sandals. The “Bongos” singer’s style featured thin soles topped by equally thin ankle and toe straps, all crafted from faintly shiny black leather. Pin-thin stiletto heels added a daring flair to complete the set.
The minimalist footwear added a dynamic height boost to the musician’s attire for the occasion: a sheer black maxi dress, complete with a strapless bodice and cinched bustier silhouette with matte black boning. Similar dark lines were vertically arranged down the dress, giving Megan Thee Stallion the illusion of being fully covered by the structured bodice itself.
The “Hot Girl Summer” rapper’s attire was given a glamorous edge from sparkling jewelry: a wide curved choker necklace, thick cuff bracelet and stud earrings, all covered in glistening diamonds for a bejeweled finish.
The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) celebrate the top music videos and performances in the music industry. This year’s awards show will honor Shakira with the Video Vanguard Award for her musical contributions to pop culture, and feature a range of performances by stars, including Doja Cat, Anitta, Cardi B, Meghan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj and Olivia Rodrigo.
