Katie Holmes was seen sporting a pair of Gucci Horsebit loafers on Wednesday in New York City.
Gucci offers several varieties of horsebit loafers, with the brand’s first release of the style dating back to 1953. Since then, Gucci’s take on the shoe has been worn by celebrities on the red carpet, politicians during publicized events and even average consumers for an elevated take on the traditional silhouette.
The black leather shoe features a slim shape, leather sole and a 0.5-inch heel. The loafer is also adorned with a gold horsebit embellishment across the front, a detail Gucci has placed on several of their originally designed shoes, handbags and clothing items.
The horsebit, made to resemble a miniature version of the metal rings on a horse’s bridle, was created by Guccio Gucci’s sons, Aldo, Rodolfo and Vasco, in 1953 as an homage to their late father’s fondness for equestrian motifs. Other shoes that feature metal adornment are the Gucci Horsebit ballet flats and the Gucci Horsebit mules.
Holmes styled her well-loved pair of designer loafers with a casual winter outfit. Paired with straight-leg black jeans, black socks and a long black double-breasted coat, the actress’ looked sophisticated yet casual. While the entire look was undoubtedly a comfortable outfit for walking down the sidewalk, Holme’s shoes could easily be dressed up for a more formal occasion.
Similar to Holmes, several other celebrities have recently sported a pair of Gucci loafers. In 2023, Hailey Beiber added a classic touch to her modern look with a pair of Gucci Horsebit leather loafers while shopping. Additionally, at the end of the same year, Bad Bunny wore a pair of bright blue Gucci leather loafers to the Billboard Latin Music Awards.
