As awards season continues, so do the year’s beginning red carpet trends — which are quickly being ruled with a high-shine edge.
Metallic textures, tones and finishes were the night’s top trend at the Governors’ Awards, which honored Angela Bassett, Mel Brooks, Carol Littleton and the late Michelle Satter with honorary Oscars statues for their cinematic achievements. Across the red carpet, flashy pumps, sandals and geometric wedges were donned by Emma Stone, Greta Lee and more stars, continuing the wave of metallic heels that began at the Golden Globes — which simultaneously kicked off the current awards season while cementing the trend as to watch in the weeks ahead.
Below, take a look at the styles that shimmered at this year’s Governors Awards.
Emma Stone
Emma Stone shimmered in cap-toed pumps — complete with smooth, nude leather uppers and silver-plated tips — on the red carpet. The “Poor Things” actress‘ sharp heels sleekly complemented her rosy pink fall 2024 Fendi Couture jacket and skirt by Kim Jones, each embroidered with allover beads and sequins for a sparkling statement. Stylist Petra Flannery elegantly finished her look with diamond stud earrings.
Greta Lee
Greta Lee shone in a set of mirrored Bottega Veneta mules for the awards, featuring smooth silver uppers across their pointed toes and sculptural wedge heels. Danielle Goldberg smoothly elevated the “Past Lives” actress’ geometric set with a sharply draped dress, also hailing from the Italian luxury brand.
Ariana DeBose
Ariana DeBose brought high-shine style to the Governors Awards in a pair of Charles & Keith pumps — a $66 style from the affordable brand, featuring mirrored silver uppers with angled heels. The shiny pair sleekly elevated the actress‘ silky pink Monique Lhuillier dress, which stylists Zadrian + Sarah complemented with a shiny Omega watch and glittering Kallati diamond earrings.
Florence Pugh
Florence Pugh took high-wattage sparkle for a spin on the red carpet, thanks to Aquazzura‘s silver Wild at Heart sandals. Her metallic style featured soaring stiletto heels with crystal-covered slingback straps, which stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray paired with a sparkling pink Rodarte dress from the brand’s spring 2024 collection. The look was complete with an array of Tiffany & Co. jewelry, including platinum and diamond earrings, a Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany ring, Tiffany Victoria rings and a bejeweled Tiffany Archives bracelet.
Cara Jade Myers
Cara Jade Myers bloomed in metallic gold caged sandals — complete with 3D flowers — at the Governors Awards. The “Killers of the Flower Moon” actress’ shiny style added a gilded flair to her romantic white Zimmermann dress, which stylist Jessica Paster complemented with dangling pearl-lined statement earrings.
