Blake Lively brought Barbie to life with a chic pair of heels — while also marking a nostalgic milestone.

While out in New York City, Lively reunited with America Ferrera during the latter’s SAG-AFTRA Foundation Conversations series for Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie.” During the occasion, Lively stepped out in a vibrant pair of Malone Souliers‘ Josephine mules, crafted from bright fuchsia satin. The $750 (was $1,250) style featured a pointed-toe silhouette, complete with satin crossed front accents and 3.54-inch heels covered in gleaming crystals.

Lively’s heels embraced the “Barbiecore” trend of all-pink dressing as a sign of female empowerment, which rose throughout 2023 in anticipation of Gerwig’s film; the trend also averaged 120,000 searches per week at its peak and hit over 1.1 billion views on TikTok, according to retail analysis platform Trendalytics.

The style also added a sharp base to the “Gossip Girl” star’s matching fuchsia outfit, which earned into her go-to brands over the years: a $6,330 (was $12,613) Oscar de la Renta minidress with a feather-coated skirt, layered beneath a $6,600 double-breasted coat from Valentino.

Gleaming emerald drop earrings and cocktail rings by Lorraine Schwartz brought a whimsical contrast to Lively’s attire, which was also glamorously complete with Judith Leiber’s signature crystal-covered Bow clutch and elbow-length fuchsia silk gloves.

Aside from celebrating Ferrera’s accomplishments, the moment also created a nostalgic reunion. At the event, Lively and Ferrera shared a “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” reunion with Alexis Bledel and Amber Tamblyn; the group co-starred in both of the franchise’s films in the early 2000’s, celebrating a 19-year-long milestone since the first movie was released in 2005.

While Lively’s heels leaned into Barbie’s signature color, the actress’ all-pink attire was also filled with an array of references. Aside from “Barbiecore,” Lively’s look also paid homage to Marilyn Monroe’s iconic pink outfit from “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes,” where she performed “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend” — which notably inspired Madonna’s 1984 “Material Girl” music video. However, Lively also wore a similar Marilyn outfit to perform “Diamonds” on “Gossip Girl” in 2012 — proving the power of pink across any decade.
