Charity Works: Kohl’s Is Donating $5 Million in Grants to Over 100 Nonprofit Organizations + More

Nov. 30, 2020: Kohl’s is donating $5 million in grants to more than 100 nonprofit organizations across the country. Through the brand’s A Community with Heart program, Kohl’s associates nationwide nominated and identified local nonprofits that make a difference for families in their communities to be surprised with a grant from Kohl’s. The donations are made possible through Kohl’s philanthropic merchandise program, Kohl’s Cares.

Nov. 30, 2020: Macy’s has pledged $2 for each letter to Santa collected (up to an extra $1 million above the existing $1 campaign goal) to help children, who are fighting critical illnesses, wishes come true during National Believe Week, from Nov. 29 through Saturday, Dec. 5.

Nov. 24, 2020: Louis Vuitton is releasing a shoe whose sales will help support the fight against AIDS. For its second collaboration with non profit Red, the luxury fashion house will debut the Louis Vuitton I (Red) sneaker on Dec. 1, or World AIDS Day, at select stores. With each purchase, $200 will be directed to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

Nov. 24, 2020: Artisanal footwear brand Bernardo1946 will be offering 30% off select styles on its site for Black Friday, with 10% of sales from these styles being donated to No Kid Hungry to help end child hunger in America. The promotion lasts Nov. 25 through Nov. 30.

Nov. 20, 2020: In honor of Giving Tuesday, Vionic is partnering with Dress for Success to help women across the globe feel like their best selves. On Tuesday, Dec. 1, the comfort brand will be donating 1% of all online sales at VionicShoes.com to the nonprofit organization; Dress for Success works to empower women through networks of support in addition to providing proper professional attire and developmental tools.

Nov. 18, 2020: Virgil Abloh and Off-White have announced the second installment of the “I Support Young Black Businesses” project with a new collaboration with Stüssy on the skate label’s 40th anniversary. Stüssy will donate a portion of the net proceeds from the sale of the T-shirts to Future of Museums, an organization of Black and Indigenous curators, scholars, arts administrators and more, who are dedicated to ending systemic racism. Off-White will also make a separate donation in support of Future of Museums. “As the ‘I Support Young Black Business’ program continues, we’re working with groups that we think really engage with and make a difference in the ongoing fight for social justice,” Abloh said. “This second chapter is a perfect amalgamation. I had long admired Stüssy as a brand, and to be able to create a unique product with them, and then donate to such an important group as the Future of Museums, is a massive honor.”

Nov. 18, 2020: Famous Footwear has raised the first $1 million for its national charity partner Ticket to Dream Foundation. The donation was made possible through contributions made by customers in Famous Footwear stores throughout the U.S. since the month of July. The funds will help enhance the lives of over 54,000 foster kids of all ages. A portion of the proceeds will go towards donations for the holiday season, including 1,700 pairs of Converse sneakers, holiday décor and gifts for group homes.

Nov. 10, 2020: This holiday season, Neiman Marcus will be donating a portion of proceeds from its annual Fantasy Gifts to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. The lineup includes 400 luxury items and experiences for purchase, including exotic gems from famed jeweler Oscar Heyman (which retail from $100,000 to $190,000) and a year-long wellness regime created by Canyon Ranch (which retails for $345,000). As an official partner of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Neiman Marcus has donated more than $500,000 to date to the organization’s clubs across the country.

Nov. 9, 2020: WeWoreWhat blogger and mega-influencer Danielle Bernstein wants to help small businesses recover from the effects of COVID-19. The blog’s charitable arm, WeGaveWhat, has partnered with Showfields, a 14,000 square foot retail space in New York City that offers online-only brands a brick-and-mortar experience, to showcase the work of 17 emerging fashion, design and jewelry labels like Billie Simone, Carola and Chimmi. The curation launches Friday, Nov. 13 at 12 p.m. ET at Showfields’ 11 Bond Street flagship store.

“When COVID-19 hit, I felt a responsibility to use my platform and reach to help others,” Bernstein said. “WeGaveWhat has partnered with Showfields this holiday season to feature 17 personally hand-selected small businesses I now have a relationship with, who may otherwise not have the opportunity to have a brick and mortar presence. We hope to continue supporting small businesses through this Showfields partnership past this original curation.”
