The Kentucky Derby: Red Statement Shoes

You may recall singer Miranda Lambert attending last year’s Kentucky Derby in a sea of fire-engine red. We’re talking red fascinator and red laser-cut Randi Rahm dress, finished off, of course, with platform red-satin Paloma pumps by Charlotte Olympia.

Sure, the annual horse race is known for its attention-getting getups, but Lambert really took things up a notch — and possibly sparked a trend.

Held in Louisville, Ky., the derby, which is the first showdown in the epic Triple Crown contest, is commonly referred to as “The Run for the Roses,” due to the blanket of roses that is draped over the winning horse — meaning, in our opinion, that red shoes seem like a very fitting option.

So whether you’re attending the derby itself or celebrating at one of the many parties being held across the country, why not consider red statement shoes. They will definitely add a bright pop of color to help you get into the springtime mood.

And who knows, maybe they’ll bring you a little luck if you’re wagering on one of the thoroughbreds on the track. You could even match them to the colors of horses, like Frammento or International Star. Every little bit helps.
