Hypebeast Magazine #32 is dubbed The Fever Issue for a very particular reason: the designers, artists and creatives spotlighted in its pages either lean into the feverish pace and unrelenting intensity of our current cultural climate or disregard it completely — instead opting for an anachronistic ethos that stands in stark contrast to the cultural fever.
UNDERCOVER founder, creative polymath and cover star Jun Takahashi falls in the latter group, as he’s been painting for a decade but is only now revealing his artwork to the public. One of his signature faceless portraits can be seen on the cover, and inside the magazine, there’s a wide-ranging conversation with him about his creative process, what made him decide to share his paintings with the world after a decade of artwork anonymity, and how making art informs his unique perspective.
Also spotlighted in the photos above is Paris Texas,
the Los Angeles-based rap group. Members Louie Pastel and Felix
describe their sound as “over-caffeinated,” an apt label that’s proven
by their boisterous back-and-forth banter and good-natured sh*t talking
across their interview. THUG CLUB founder Yeong Min Cho, one of Korea’s foremost iconoclasts, riffs on how he’s riding the Hallyu wave on his terms as well as the viral success his brand’s garments have enjoyed, while the one-two punch of Small Talk Studio

shares his mission to “crown you” with his bespoke hats and also shows
off a selection of his favourite designs, while we explore the evolution
behind London-based brand Mowalola and its founder Mowalola Ogunlesi talks about shining a spotlight on her Nigerian heritage with her provocative designs.
The Fever Issue also spotlights Karu Research, Metalwood Studio, Citi Bike Boyz, Shy’s Burgers, Peter Sutherland, Emma Stern, Matthew Burgess, the McGloughlin Brothers, Jon Rafman and others.
- Returns and/or exchanges are only accepted within 14 days of purchase date.
- Sale product may only be exchanged for alternative sizing in the same product should there be stock available, in the event of a refund a gift card will be issued.
- To be eligible for a return or exchange, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it in. It must also be in the original, undamaged packaging i.e. the Shelflife carton it is shipped in. Should you not ship it in this carton, there will be penalties if the product is damaged.
- Refunds for online purchases will be refunded back to the same payment tender that the original sale, once the goods arrive at our warehouse – note the process to return an order can take up to 7 working days.
- Credit/Debit card refunds take 7-14 working days to reflect in the account, which is standard across all banks in South Africa.
- Should you wish to return to a store for a refund, the refund will be done back to the same tender that the original sale was made, with exception of the following tenders which will be refunded back onto a Shelflife Gift Card – Mobicred, Payflex, PayJustNow.
- Gift Card refunds take 48 hours to process and are valid for 36 months.
- In the event of a return due to a customer fault, such as the ordering of the incorrect size, the customer will be fully liable for all return shipping fees incurred. Shipping fees for collection within South Africa are R100 (from your door back to our warehouse).
- In the case of a refund however, Shelflife will deduct R200 from the order amount to cover all shipping costs including the original delivery cost.
- In the event of a return due to a Shelflife fault, Shelflife will cover full shipping fees incurred.
