adidas Originals has tapped Chinese artist YiRan, the founder of Yeenjoy Studios, known for their porcelain work, to collaborate on a new capsule collection inspired by the Yuan Dynasty’s signature blue porcelain, coming soon.

adidas Originals has been celebrating the anniversaries of both the classic Forum basketball sneaker and the Superstar in the last two years, honoring two of their most quintessential silhouettes with a number of special releases and collaborations. Now, the adidas team has placed both of these shoes into the hands of Chinese artist YiRan, the founder of YeenJoy studios, most well-known for their intricate indigo-stained porcelain sculptures. YiRan is applying the same practices to these adidas shoes, transforming them into veritable works of art that look like real porcelain. The Superstar, cast entirely in faded blue, will debut first later this month, followed by the Forum 84 Low in February. Both pairs take their design cues from the Yuan Dynasty’s signature art form, applying both the beautiful blue colors and stunning patterns.
