Saucony’s GRID Azura 2000 is here to stay. After making its first appearance in standard-issue colorways, the Y2K-inspired runner has become a fixture of the Classics lineup. This week, the Azura 2K is back in a bright new Japanese-inspired look.

Originally designed in 1999, the GRID Azura 2000 was never actually released, remaining a mysterious object in the vault for almost 20 years, until the team at Bodega unearthed it last year. Constructed from lightweight mesh and jagged suede overlays, the Azura 2K was intended as an all-purpose running silhouette. Now, the thick silhouette is better tuned for lifestyle wear, which Saucony is backing up with some fresh new colorways for Summer. The latest launch for the GRID Azura has already hit shelves at some retailers, offering up a colorful new look based on Japanese Bozozoku motorcycle culture. Inspired by the colorful outfits worn by riders and matched by their bikes, this Azura 2K features a patchwork of neon tones underneath the silhouette’s clear base layer, reinforced by a series of jagged white suede overlays. Flashes of neon green and pink are added to the heels and inner lining, while purple Saucony river logos complete the look.
