Last year, Nike introduced the “Design by Japan” line, which features iconic shoes in new colors voted on by the population of Japan. This Summer, the Zoom Vomero 5 gets the special treatment.

Nike introduced their Design by Japan series last Summer, releasing a special-edition pair of the Air Max 1 where materials and colors were decided on by a SNKRS app poll exclusively in Japan. Now, the project returns, this time using the Zoom Vomero 5 as the canvas. The new look features a revised construction, swapping out certain materials for and covering the shoe in a simple “Pale Ivory”-based color scheme. The shoe’s base layer come in a smooth leather, though the midfoot cage has been removed in favor of a smooth sheet of TPU plastic. Overlays come in a pale grey suede with embroidered detailing with an oversized black leather Swoosh on top. The heel counter comes in a gum brown shade to match some of the outsole accents. Finally, tongue and heel pull tabs are added, with flashes of blue to add a bit of color to the neutral look.
