Nike’s performance running team continues to innovate and iterate upon their products year after year. At the change of each twelve-month cycle, we’ve come to expect new announcements and technologies from the Swoosh, building upon the discoveries from the prior year to improve their offerings to athletes. This year, those improvements come in the form of the React Infinity 2 and the brand new ZoomX Invincible Run, Nike’s first performance shoe releases of 2021. According to Nike, both were created to solve problems encountered in 2020. Starting with the React Infinity 2, which follows up on last year’s debut model, incorporates new Flyknit weave patterns into its upper that has been adapted from new data obtained over the last year. Some of the changes include more open, breathable areas and the inclusion of Flywire for added support. The ZoomX Invincible Run is a different step for the Swoosh, debuting something entirely new intended to solve similar problems. The Invincible Run features ZoomX cushioning, Nike’s lightest and highest energy-returning foam to date, as well as reworking it into a new geometric rocker shape intended to help keep a stable stride and ride during high-mileage runs.
