Nike’s Air Max Day holiday is almost upon us, and with it comes a slew of exciting releases for the annual occasion. This week, we have an early look at a new Air Max 1 PRM “Wabi-Sabi”, expected later this month.

The Nike Air Max 1 is turning thirty-five this year, a massive milestone for the original Air Max sneaker. As we expect with Nike, the Swoosh has plenty in store for the OG exposed air shoe, with a handful of special colorways expected to release this year. This week, another style joins the bunch, casting the AM1 in an ‘imperfect’ look inspired by the Japanese world-view of Wabi-Sabi. The principal is often described as an aesthetic that appreciates the “imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete” in nature. Nike has conveyed this ethos through a haphazard construction of the shoe, cutting panels in half to mix different colors, and adding seemingly random stitching. The midsole even features a cracked look, similar to the Off-White Jordan 2 from last year. The Air Max 1 “Wabi-Sabi” features an earth tone palette, mixing olive, brown, and mustard colored overlays on top of a white base.
