Nike’s Air Force 1 is often used as the brand’s canvas to celebrate special events and historic moments. This week, the Swoosh’s Korean division has unveiled a special release of the AF1 celebrating Hangeul Day, releasing next week.

Nike’s Air Force 1 has been the canvas for some of the Swoosh’s most exciting projects since its introduction in 1982. Still a staple of the brand’s lifestyle offerings, the AF1 has also become an essential piece of the custom sneaker world, acting as the number-one go-to canvas for special one-of-one themed customs or colorways. This week, Nike gave us our first look at an upcoming colorway of the Air Force 1 Low celebrating Hangeul Day, the South Korean holiday honoring the invention of the Korean alphabet, or Hangeul. This limited-edition release features a smooth white base layer for the shoe, decorated with embroidered hangeul in white, while some come in primary shades of red, blue, or yellow. The AF1’s usual overlays are added in a cream white tone, while an aged midsole completes the look.
