New Balance’s Grey Day celebration is almost here, honoring the brand’s quintessential, fan-favorite color scheme. This week, the Boston brand unveiled this year’s releases, including the 327, XC-72, and 57/40.
One of the most beloved elements of the New Balance brand is its affinity for simple grey sneakers. Formerly known as the ultimate ‘dad’ shoes, New Balance’s popularity is at an all-time high right now, and continues to climb. Many of the brand’s most popular silhouettes and releases are marked by their signature grey color scheme, mixing shades of the neutral tone to achieve an enticing look that pairs very well with just about any personal style. In recent years, New Balance has begun to claim this color for themselves, marking the occasion with ‘Grey Day’, a pseudo-holiday celebrating the now-famous color scheme. This year’s collection includes three styles; the 327, 57/40, and the XC-72 (we took a closer look at the ‘Marblehead’ XC-72 in a full post yesterday, so we’ll skip it today). This year’s collection differs from previous years, allowing more shades of grey for some unique new styles. For example, the 57/40 is very light, and comes off in almost off-white tones with small hints of grey throughout, while the 327 is dark, featuring a deep steel grey upper with lighter accents. All three pairs meet New Balance’s Green Leaf standard, meaning that “at least 50% or more of the materials in a garment are sourced as environmentally preferred”.

New Balance’s latest Grey Day collection has been scheduled to release later this week, on May 21st, 2022 in the United States and Europe. Featuring the 327, XC-72, and 57/40, all three pairs will be available directly from New Balance as well as select retailers, with prices ranging from $85 to $120.
