New Balance’s 550 basketball shoe first resurfaced earlier this year in collaboration with NYC’s Aimé Leon Dore, and was a smash hit. Now, the ‘basketball oxford’ is here to stay, releasing in new colorways, like the Collegiate series, coming soon.

New Balance continues to unveil new colorways of the vintage 550 sneaker, adding onto the already mountainous hype the silhouette has created in the past year. The 550, a low-top leather basketball shoe from the late ’80s, first made its return last year, in collaboration with New York’s Aimé Leon Dore. This week, we got an early look at two new colors set to launch soon, remixing the silhouette with two collegiate-inspired colorways, representing UNC and Syracuse. Both pairs feature a largely white leather construction with some perforated panels, while accents in either baby blue for UNC and orange for ‘Cuse decorate various accents and special details around the shoe.
