adidas’ Crazy BYW line first made its debut last year, combining the 90s Feet You Wear technology with modern day Boost. The result was a striking line of chunky shoes, onw that returns this year with a sleek new look.

adidas’ latest take on the BYW franchise is a nice change in direction from last year’s models, swapping out higher-cut ankles for a sleeker, more reinforced design. The Crazy BYW X 2.0 is still the same basketball/lifestyle hybrid model that the first BYW X popularized last year, though it remains to be seen whether the new version leans more to the casual or athletic side of performance. Either way, the new look appears to be a fantastic evolution for the franchise. The BYW X 2.0 begins with a neoprene inner bootie, reinforced by several layers of mesh as well as faux-suede in certain areas for targeted support. The outer sides of the shoe feature a stiff TPU plate to provide a counter when making hard cuts on the court, and the midsole appears to trade some of its Boost for more standard EVA rubber, likely to maximize energy return. The Crazy BYW X 2.0 will make its debut in two tonal colorways, one orange (below) and a second in neon green.
